The Redress Design Award 2020 launches - and we’re a big part of it!
Do you have what it takes to cut waste out of fashion? The Redress Design Award 2020 launches - and we’re a big part of it!
The New Year just keeps getting better for us!
Not only did we kick off 2020 in style with our exclusive retail partnership with NET SUSTAIN, we’re now excited to share our partnership with the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition, the Redress Design Award 2020, run by our sister charity, Redress.
Now in its tenth cycle, the Redress Design Award 2020 is open to designers globally. The competition - which is so much more than just a competition! - educates and inspires designers to move towards a circular, and therefore more sustainable, fashion system, which is a goal we keep close to our hearts, minds and design ethos here at The R Collective.

And... drum roll please... the 2020 competition’s womenswear winner will design a ten-piece upcycled capsule collection for us! The talented womenswear winner will be announced in September 2020 at the much anticipated Redress Design Award 2020 grand final, following which the winner will be whisked into our team for a design journey of their lifetime!
We’re passionate about empowering global sustainable designers; and so far we have launched six collections designed by Redress Design Award winners and stand-out talents, many of whom continue to break boundaries and pioneer sustainable design globally. Cue Kevin Germanier’s uber-chic designs, which have adorned the likes of Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift, Wen Pan and Weiyu Hung, whose collections for The R Collective are tearing through closets and influencers globally, and which recently launched exclusively on NET-A-PORTER. And of course, ‘Avoidance’ and ‘RINSE’ collections, created in collaboration with Tess Whitfort and Wen Pan respectively, received critical acclaim featuring their signature aesthetics.

And as prize partners, we’re in great company. The Redress Design Award 2020 menswear winner will receive a tailored mentorship and career-development fund with VF Corporation, one of the world’s largest apparel, footwear and accessories companies, which owns the likes of iconic brands such as Vans®, The North Face®, Timberland® and Dickies, so that the menswear winner can explore what it takes to be a sustainable fashion business designer and leader.
So, could the next star designer for The R Collective be you? The Redress Design Award is now open until the deadline on 18 March. And to help you on your way to redesigning the future of fashion, Redress is running a Circular Fashion Design Pathway Course, a four-week online course delivered by global experts - including The R Collective’s Chief Operating Officer, Sharon Tsang and our Founder, Christina Dean - to help designers to make their mark on waste!
And finally, to give you a taste of what’s in store, watch Frontline Fashion 4. Episode 1 of the digital mini-series hosted by celebrating Cara G Mcilroy, which follows the 2019 finalists in-depth and up-close and personal. It’s a must-see!
And for our customers, follow the Redress Design Award to be the first to know which global talent we’ll be welcoming into our team to turn waste back into your wardrobes!
