Step in line - or Face the Fine?
In a highly fragmented fashion industry, regulation has been a far off cry. Until now. With governments shifting from encouragement to enforcement, legislation is expected to reshape fashion. We explore how global regulation is targeting raw materials, excess stock and everything in between - and how our work meets the moment.

Governments are stepping up. A Boston Consulting Group report predicts that 35+ new pieces of sustainability-linked legislation will go into effect globally by 2027 spanning every stage of a product's life cycle - including raw materials and unsold inventory.

Of the raft of these new pieces of legislation, many target the start of the value chain. And that’s no surprise - from extraction and processing to manufacturing and design - these processes are extremely energy, water and chemical intensive. Naturally, we are fans of anything that will elevate the quality and safety of fashion’s input materials, as poor quality inputs make circularity harder.
